Growing Tree Photography Blog bio picture

Hello!

Hello!! My name is Sara and I'm the main gal behind Growing Tree Photography.

Here is a little about me as a photographer:

I love natural light.

I love LOVE.

My photographs work to bring those two things together as much as possible.

Here is a little about me as a wedding photographer:

I love personal.

I love creative.

I love quirky.

I love honest.

I love romantic.

I love pretty details.

And here is a little about me in general:

I love my family more than I can ever express. I love that we have regular dance parties in our kitchen. I love that we are creating a life together that we have dreamed about for a long time. And finally, I love a good chocolate cake.

Sweet Beach Wedding-Deanna and Sean

Deanna and Sean had a fabulous wedding day!! The sun shone just the right amount of warmth on that Mid-September day in Cape Cod. Everything about it was lovely and enjoyable.

A big thanks to my sweet friend, Renee Descoutures, a very talented CT children’s photographer for bringing her smiling face and impeccable eye. She contributed many beautiful images.

And now, because I like pictures better than words….let’s get on with it!!

Renee made magic with these two sweetie pies.I can’t believe how long it took me to realize that there were TWO of these guys! Ha!!! I thought he was just everywhere:) Here’s Renee enjoying my Ah-ha moment.
Deanna and Sean, It was truly a pleasure. Everything about your day was so wonderful. Renee and I had such a blast capturing it for you. We wish you all the best for a wonderful life together.

Dear Couples, (this is the best advice I can give you:))

When you think about your wedding photos, you think about them as a tangible record of your beautiful wedding day. They are what remains after all the dancing and the celebrating subsides. Given that, they are pretty important, right?! Yes, they are very important. I have couples tell me that they look back at their wedding photos months and months after the wedding and still get goose bumps. That makes me so incredibly happy, because that means that I succeeded in what I intended to do on their wedding day. As far as I see it, my job is to give you images that capture, in the most beautiful way possible, the way your heart felt on your wedding day. I want you to see how your faces were glowing with joy and how much your love inspired those around you. I want you to see that so that you can remember it and have it with you always.

With that being said, there are certain things that you as a couple can do to make it more likely that you will get the photos that give you goose bumps. I suggest this to you, give yourself and your future spouse, the best wedding gift ever….TIME. Time to enjoy the day, time to enjoy moments together on your day, time to really feel the awesomeness of what you are doing.

The next wedding that will hit the blog has inspired me to write this because it is the perfect example of what I am talking about. This couple gave themselves time and in turn, they really enjoyed their day, and I think they will be pretty excited about the images.

I don’t want to sound preachy or demanding, I just want my couples to know that the time you set aside for photos of you and your partner is so important. It’s like mini-date on your wedding day, to honor and celebrate all that led you to this day. And the awesome part about this “date” is that there is a very happy photographer there to capture it as it is happening.

Lots of love,

Sara

A Heart Warming Wedding–Melissa and Alfred

It’s really hard for me to put into words how sweet and lovely the couples I get to work with are. They are wonderful. Melissa and Alfred are the perfect example. They are laid back, funny, and they just absolutely adore each other.

Their wedding came the week after Miss Hurricane Irene. The lovely Irene flooded their original reception venue and so, at the last minute, they had to secure another venue. These two were so excited to be married, they didn’t let that little glitch make their day anything less than extra special. So thanks, Melissa and Alfred, for sharing such a lovely day with us. It was so great to be part of the celebration!

I also want to give a humongous virtual hug to my pal, the very talented Athena Blude.  I was very fortunate to have her with me to capture many beautiful images.

And yes, this was the Karate Kid song:) Love Melissa’s expression. She’s amused, yet not surprised by Alfred’s antics.

What an awesome day!!! Another big congrats to Melissa and Alfred. May you continue to laugh together for many, many years to come!!

xo,

Sara
